Free Temporary Upgrade

At the time of writing most of the world is in some form of lockdown. At some point the lockdown measures will be relaxed, hopefully in a similar way to how they were before the total lockdown.  It is also possible that there will be other restrictions of various degrees in the future.

This document details how Register EPOS can assist retailers to trade on either side of a total lockdown. This means a constrained retailing environment:

  • Limited customers allowed in store
  • Customers in general want to transact quickly
    • Visit, transact and leave ASAP
  • Possible product purchase restrictions
  • Home Deliveries

Register Call & Collect or Call & Deliver

Register can be utilised to implement a temporary Call & Collect or Call & Deliver service. These are both variations on a theme where the customer calls in, makes an order and either goes to store to collect or where the items are delivered.

This uses functionality from the Register Plus version. If you are not on Register Plus a temporary upgrade can be provided at no additional charge during this period.

Call & Collect

The customer calls the store and places an order for collection.  They are given an order number and the order number is placed on the goods for collection (or they provide name details). The customer arrives, the order is number given, payment made and the goods taken.  There are a couple of efficient ways to implements this.

  • Customer calls the store to place an order.
  • Staff member adds the items into a new transaction.
    • Option 1, Items can be picked in real time
      • Use a Pax A920 mobile EPOS, walk around the store and scan the items into a bag or basket.
      • Use a Bluetooth connected to a Register desktop to scan items
      • Items could be picked by a “staff shopper” and taken to the Register to be scanned in.
    • Option 2, You can create a pick list to be picked later
      • Search for the items on Register and add them to the basket
      • Configure order printing on Register.
      • This will print a list of all the items to be picked
      • These can now be picked by a “staff shopper” later.
    • Staff member suspends the transaction either by recording the customer name, by using the Register auto order number feature or by recording them in the Register CRM.
    • Use the Register order receipt (if you setup your products for order printing), or tap print bill manually to generate the same order receipt and place the order receipt with the customers goods.
    • Collection – Customer is identified by their name or order number on the order receipt.
    • Payment options:
      • On Collection; Staff member resumes the customers transaction and processes the payment. This could be cash or card and done at a desktop till or at the door using a Pax A920.
      • In advance; At the time of ordering, the payment is processed on the card terminal using the MOTO function. You may need to speak to your payment provider to check this is enabled.  This is recorded as non-integrated card payment for the transaction.

Call & Deliver

The customer calls the store and places an order to be delivered. Either for Cash/Card on delivery or pre-payment via MOTO – CNP (Cardholder not present) card payment.  There are a couple of efficient ways to implements this.

      • These can now be picked by a “staff shopper” later
    • Staff member suspends the transaction
    • Options for identifying the customer and delivery address.
      • Use tabs and enter the customer name and address as the transaction name.
        • Press print bill. The address will be on the bill.
      • Use Register CRM functionality to record customer information when using MOTO payment
        • Configure Register to print address on receipt
        • When using CRM, the customer can also be assigned at the beginning of the transaction.
        • Register will then print an order receipt (if you setup your products for order printing), or the staff member can tap reprint receipt to generate a second copy. The customers details including their address will be printed on the receipts.
      • Delivery driver takes the order to the customer and takes the payment.
        • If the customer is paying cash, this can be collected and when the driver returns, the transaction can be resumed and the cash payment recorded.
          • Or a cash transaction can be completed on the doorstep using a Pax A920
        • If the customer is paying by card, this could be taken at the customers door by resuming the transaction on a Pax A920 and processing the payment.
        • Payment In advance; At the time of order, payment is processed on the card terminal using the MOTO function. You may need to speak to your payment provider to check this is enabled. This is recorded as non-integrated card payment for the transaction.

There are a number of ways to fine tune the set up so please speak with your service provider as needed. Above all, stay safe and we wish you and your families well.
