A small solution for big results. Smart Volution’s Register solution brings all the fun of the fair.

BookSolve is a major supplier of POS solutions for the bookshop industry. It has been developing and selling its solution to the industry for over thirty five years.

Recently one of BookSolve’s customers had a particular request for a light, portable device to use for processing payments at the Edinburgh Book Festival. The customer had identified that there was a problem at book fairs in that queues could very rapidly build up after an event, and people would get frustrated and walk away. The customer was looking for a small hand held device that was portable and was easy to use. The device also had to interface with the BookSolve system to keep track of sales and stock.

Richard Elsley MD of BookSolve came across Smart Volution’s Register product after undertaking some research. Richard needed a product that could fulfil his customer requirements as well as being easily integrated with the BookSolve solution.

In discussion with Smart Volution it was decided that the Pax A920 running Register software would be the ideal. The device is small and easy to use and allows for the full use of all the Register functionality.

The customer had five of the devices in use during the fair and was absolutely delighted with them.

Richard Elsley MD of BookSolve said “We were delighted that the customer was very happy with the solution and they reported back that one of the major unintended benefits of using the Pax A920 was that staff could engage with the customers in the queue. A definite win, as perhaps this is what a book fair is all about.”

Justin Coward CEO of Smart Volution said “It is excellent to see how the register product can be rapidly adapted for new niches in the market. The sheer range of hardware that the Register can now run on creates many opportunities for a host of vertical markets.”
